This is one way to catch bait for inshore and offshore chumming and fishing. The pogie is another name for menhaden which is an oily fish used as both bait and chum for various saltwater fishes. They swim in large schools and are easy to spot and net. They break the surface and form a dark shadow in the water. A boat is the usual vehicle for cast netting them, but they swim by my dock making it easy to net.

Filmed on the Lil Toot II fishing out of Koolina Marina on the island of Oahu on 14 may 2011. We lucked out and got a ahi hit in the blind. Ended up boating a 115lb ahi. Went out to the NW side of the island today and met up with two other Aquahunter members for a day of fishing. Everyone caught a Kaku but Griz was the big winner with a nice Mahi and a 46" Ulua.

A long weekend spent at Ribby Hall Holiday Village proved tricky fishing, with the fish starting to spawn, most struggled to catch. The fishing was no where near it’s best, but I did bag a few, and some cracking lookers as well. Robert from Ohio came out fishing with me today, and despite the perfect weather, the bite was rough. It was by far one of my toughest days on the water, but Robert didnt give up and landed this trophy, and then finished the morning catching several bass on top water with a buzz bait.
