I am heading out to Kern river in California and i have very little knowlage about fishing. What tips do you have about fishing in Kern River, and what baits should i use…. What kind of setup should i make for my line?
I’ve only SEEN the Kern River, never had the chance to actually fish it… stupid archery tournament.
Devyn mentioned that anybody fishing would be flyfishing. There’s your hint. What I would do instead of soaking a nightcrawler, using any cheese, live crickets, eggs of any sort, spinners is… a fly! Only fly fishing the nonsporting way.
Fill a decent sized sliding casting bubble about half way or so full of water, sliiiiiiide it up onto your line, tie on a small barrel swivel just big enough to keep the float from sliding over it. Then, take about three or four feet of line and tie that to the other end of your swivel. Tie on a wet or dry fly to the "leader" and there you go. You might even ask one of them fly fisherman you see around what kind of flies they’re using. If you don’t get a rude answer or the cold shoulder, you might even ask if you can have or borrow one of their flies. Good luck on that part though.

The DINGOTM is one of the best prices double jointed rattling lures you will ever buy. This lure has a fantastic swimbait swimming action and it comes with a free replacement tail. This is a very slow sinking bass swimbait. It sinks at a rate of fall of 4″ per second. That is only a little over 3 feet per 10 seconds (ROF 3)! This lure has incredible hang time and also will drop horizontally, not tail or nose first.
