Good morning. Here’s your OBX Moment of Zen for Wednesday, February 1, 2012. This video was shot at the Hayman St. beach access in Kill Devil Hills at 8:30 AM. Beautiful start to February. Quiet and peaceful morning at the beach. Bright sun, blue skies, offshore breeze out of the southwest, and temps in the 60′s. Ocean is absolutely flat. No surf. Fishing is slow. About 2 KM from the most popular surf spot in the Cape guys are fishing for Sharks. IN this video you will see a fisherman haul in a bronze whaler shark. Pretty intense, as in the 10 minutes I was there I personally saw about 5 or 6 sharks get caught within a few hundred meters. The fisherman told me he often catches great whites, but they are strong enough to break the reel. The fisherman dont kill the sharks and just fish for the fun and sport of it. I only had my phone with me, so excuse the quality…..not bad however for a blackberry.

Good morning. Here’s the Outer Banks, Beach, Surf & Fishing Report for Tuesday, January 24, 2012. This video was shot at the Lillian St. beach access in Kitty Hawk at 8:45 AM. Two days in a row of warm temps, fog, and surf. A little rain and fog to start today, but the sun should fight it’s way out. 60 degree temps and surf have carried over from yesterday with a light offshore breeze put of the southwest. Temps will dip to the upper 40′s tomorrow but jump back to 60 to close out the week. We had head high waves in the area yesterday. That swell will fade to waist high through today, the light offshore breeze is cleaning up the waves nicely. The tide is a bit heigh this morning, but late morning should see some fun surf. The wind will switch a bit north this afternoon so there could be a bit of chop later today, but today could be the best surf this week. Hit it. OBX fishing is slow. Good morning. Here’s your Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing report for Thursday, January 19, 2012. This video was shot just south of the Kitty Hawk Pier at 9:00 AM. It’s a pretty day. Bright sun and blue skies, but the temps have dipped down to the 40′s and a northeast wind is adding some wind chill. The good news is the temps will warm up for the weekend. We may see a little rain, but will be back to the 60′s for the weekend. No surf to report this morning. Decent waist to chest swell, but the onshore wind isn’t helping. The good news is the wind should switch to the southwest after lunch, so there could be some clean waves this afternoon. Looking ahead, not much surf this weekend. OBX fishing is still relatively slow. Still crossing our fingers for a good striper bite soon. However, we have had good reports of blue fin tuna out of Oregon Inlet all week. Hope to see you soon. Ocracoke Island is the southernmost island in Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is only accessible by ferry, plane, or a 2-3 hour drive from Manteo/Nags Head. This quaint fishing village is famous for being the site where Blackbeard’s ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, was shipwrecked off it’s shores. It’s lighthouse and Howard’s Pub are also two well-known staples on the island. You can find beautiful sunsets over Silver Lake Harbor or on Ocracoke’s South End beach; you can even drive your off-road vehicle on some of the most pristine and beautiful beaches you’ll ever see. It is truly my favorite island I’ve visited in the states and the beauty here is unparalleled.

Good morning. Here’s your OBX Moment of Zen for Wednesday, January 11, 2012. This video was shot just south of the Kitty Hawk Pier at 8:30 AM. It is a pretty January day on the beach. Almost no wind to start the day and the ocean is calm. Overcast today, but temps around 60 today and tomorrow. Clean surf tomorrow when the wind switches offshore. Small, in the knee – waist range, but it should be gorgeous weather to be out. Outer Banks fishing is slow. Hearing good news of striper bites in VA, but we have not seen a good bite yet. Hello everybody,,, This season I decided to use light tackle on the surf for striped bass and after a lot of research I chose the Dobyns DX783 SF rod,,,,,I had "so much fun" using this rod on the surf and I also used this rod in the Delta and in the San Francisco Bay and will post more videos in the near future so "SUBSCRIBE NOW"… All of my videos were shot with my GoPro HD Hero Helmet Camera… On this video some of my friends and I catch a bunch of striped bass on the surf,,,I personally caught three striped bass on this day "but" ended up giving all of them to my friends on the beach that day as soon as I caught them so that I could keep fishing!!!,,,All that I needed was the videos and some pictures of the three striped bass that I caught this day,,,,To be fare each fish went to a different friend,,,,This was an "AWESOME" day of fishing…
