Went back again today. Didn’t hook the 15"+ monster I saw yesterday. Should be able to once bait fishing is legal in May. Still got some nice fish. The first fish was the biggest at 11".

Eastern mudminnow (Umbra pygmaea). Freshwater Fishes of Virginia. These were caught with a DIY bait trap and placed in an aquarium as pets. FYI – Mudminnows are actually killifish. See my channel page for a link to the instructions that we used for making a minnow trap from two 3-liter soda bottles. We used a cheese cracker for bait and caught nearly 50 minnows within 15 minutes on our first try! The trap took less than 20 minutes to make.
